This moment meant more than words could ever explain. After losing my father just before my high school graduation, I carried his dream and my purpose with me every step of the way. Today, I stood in front of my fellow Class of 2025 scholars, not only sharing my story, but also catering the very event that celebrates how far we’ve all come. It’s a full-circle moment built on resilience, love, and the lessons he left behind. Thank you, Rising Scholars and Miami Dade College, for giving me a stage to honor his memory and continue the legacy he believed in.

Last Monday was a true honor — standing in front of my Class of 2025 peers and sharing my story at our Student Reflection event. From losing my father before my high school graduation to finding my purpose through the world of food, every challenge, every sacrifice, and every dream led me to this moment.
Speaking not just as a student, but as a rising leader, reminded me that our struggles don’t define us — they prepare us for greatness. Thank you, Rising Scholars and Miami Dade College, for believing in my journey and giving me the platform to inspire others. This is only the beginning.

April 26th, I’ll be walking across the stage at loanDepot Park, officially earning my A.S. in Culinary Management from @mdcollege.

But before that, I had the honor of catering for over 600 guests — including scholars, faculty, and community leaders — at the Rising Scholars & Presidential Scholars Graduation Ceremony, where I also delivered the student reflection speech.

From selling brownies at 16 to support my mom…
To standing behind the mic and behind the food — this was personal.

As an upcoming rising chef in the making, I brought my heart to the table with this menu:

Wearing his signature chef coat embroidered with Culture Kitchen, Chef Christian arrived with a handcrafted tray filled with his signature creation: rich, espresso-infused brownies topped with whipped crema and a drizzle of dark chocolate. In the center of the tray sat a bold red moka pot—his nod to the Dominican coffee culture that inspired the now-iconic dessert.
